Description
The aim of the project is to produce the firstscientifically based and annotated critical edition of Boccaccio's Filostrato, a work central to the history of 14th-century narrative poetry, but one for which there is still no reliable text. The candidate must be proficient in stemmatic ecdotic methods, linguistic analysis, and material philology, working on the entire manuscript tradition (80 witnesses) to define a reconstructive and documentary apparatus. Theedition will be supplemented by historical and literary commentary aimed at clarifying sources, genre, dating, the Neapolitan-Angevin context, and early European reception, restoring the poem to its role in Boccaccio's early work.
