Development of functional cations for self-assembled low-dimensional perovskite quantum wells.

Description
Low-dimensional perovskite semiconductors are gaining strong interest for photovoltaics and photonics. This project aims to develop advanced perovskite quantum wells in which organic cations go beyond their structural role and actively shape the material’s energetic landscape, enhancing charge transport and luminescence while enabling band alignment modulation. To achieve this, a rational design strategy will be developed for p-conjugated semiconducting cations that encode the structural features and intermolecular interactions needed to drive controlled supramolecular assembly of hybrid perovskites. Conducted within the ERC-STG project “SUPER,” the work will integrate advanced spectroscopic and structural characterization with device engineering to create a hybrid platform that fully exploits synergistic interactions between organic and inorganic sublattices.
