Scientific-Disciplinary Group

09/IBIO-01 - Bioengineering

Description

The research programme is conducted within the framework of the European project MINIONS and involves: (i) the development and integration of microstructural simulation and radiation–matter interaction models, and (ii) the application of these integrated models to retrospective and prospective clinical data. Specifically, the research activities include:1. analysis of the state of the art in radiotherapy treatments for cancer2. study and development of microstructural simulation approaches and radiation–matter interaction models3. integration of these models in order to evaluate microstructural variations as a function of dose deposition and/or radiation-induced cellular and sub-cellular damage4. application of the integrated models to clinical datasets collected in retrospective and prospective studies, in collaboration with clinical institutions5. active participation in collaborative activities with the clinical institutions involved in the project
