Targeting Psychological Well-Being Across Eating Disorders and Risk Conditions
Scientific-Disciplinary Group
11/PSIC-04 - Clinical And Dynamic Psychology
Description
The project investigates the role of psychological well-being in the prevention and rehabilitation of eating disorders (EDs). These conditions usually emerge during youth, often follow a long and complex course, and are associated with high comorbidity and impairments in social and relational functioning, leading to significant costs for patients, families, and society. Evidence indicates that low psychological well-being is both a vulnerability factor for the onset of EDs and an area of persistent difficulty even after evidence-based treatments, suggesting that symptom remission does not necessarily mean full recovery. The project will develop and preliminarily evaluate a group intervention based on Well-Being Therapy (WBT), adapted for EDs. Feasibility, acceptability, and preliminary effects will be assessed in at-risk populations and within rehabilitation pathways using clinimetric measures and Ecological Momentary Assessment (EMA)
