Flood dynamics of the urban area of Ticino River at Pavia is affected by the hydraulic behaviour of Po River.Po River flood causes back-water induced flooding of the Borgo Basso area.The research activity will focus on:- analysis of flood modelling schemes with reference to the peculiar features of Ticino-Po hydraulic system (direct and backwater flooding, influence of Gravellone canal in the Borgo Bassoarea);- integrating the advantages of 1D and 2D flood modelling to improve model reliability and computational speed;- developing a hydraulic model to relate the stage at Ponte Libertà and Ponte Becca hydrometric stations with the flood level in Borgo Basso to support the management of the hydraulic structures at Chiavica della Battella site on the Gravellone canal
