Territorial analyses to identify areas suitable for Renewable Energy Communities that exploit energy storage opportunities.
Scientific-Disciplinary Group
07/AGRI-04 - Agricultural, Forest And Biosystems Engineering
Description
“Planning Energy Storage in Rural Areas” develops methodologies and evaluation criteria to identify and areas where Italy’s topography can be profitably harnessed to store energy by pumping water into micro-reservoirs. The project involves the use of GIS tools and operational guidelines to identify areas within the Apennine region suitable for pumped-storage micro-storage, taking into account the constraints of the rural context while also considering areas where socioeconomic conditions are suitable for establishing energy communities with rural characteristics. The research activity involves the use of preprocessing and classification techniques for remotely sensed data, as well as territorial analysis within a GIS framework. The assignment involves scientific activities of the AGRI-04/C disciplinary research group based at the Department of Architecture, specifically regarding research on remote sensing and territorial analysis related to the research project.
