Analysis of civic and political participation processes as tools for mitigating the democratic risk associated with the climate crisis
Scientific-Disciplinary Group
14/GSPS-05 - General Sociology, 14/GSPS-08 - Sociology Of Economics, Labour, Environment And Territory
Description
The project aims to investigate how institutional bodies collaborate with political and civic participation initiatives towards the definition and management of problems of public relevance directly or indirectly linked to the climate crisis, whether they are of an emergency nature (extreme weather events, water crises, etc.) or long-term trends (energy transition, food poverty, etc.). Adopting an analytical framework derived from the study of the transition of socio-technical systems (and in particular the Multi-Level Perspective), the research aims to identify the mechanisms for activating and consolidating civic and political participation (considered as a niche for activation) and to explore forms of interaction with the public and private entities that govern the system (considered as a regime).
