Complex Systems Methods for Micro-Macro Analysis and Design in Computational Systems
Scientific-Disciplinary Group
01/INFO-01 - Informatics
Description
The research project aims to investigate computational methods for the study of complex systems characterised by emergent dynamics, with particular attention to the micro–macro relationship in collective computational systems. The goal is to develop and analyse techniques for analysis, modelling, and abstraction (e.g., coarse-graining, multi-scale models, information-theoretic approaches) that enable understanding how global behaviours emerge from local interactions. In parallel, the project may include survey activities aimed at mapping the state of the art on multi-scale methods, emergent dynamics, and computational models for collective systems. The project will also explore the role of computational formalisms as tools to investigate emergent properties, collective dynamics, and self-organisation mechanisms, with the aim of contributing to the definition of general principles for the engineering of complex systems.
