Description
Peritoneal carcinomatosis (PC) detection and quantification represent a critical prognostic factor in abdominal malignancies and require accurate intraoperative staging to determine the indication for, and to guide, cytoreductive surgery (CRS) and hyperthermic intraperitoneal chemotherapy (HIPEC). Current laparoscopic and robotic approaches remain operator-dependent and are prone to under-detection of small or occult lesions. Artificial intelligence (AI) offers a promising solution through real-time semantic segmentation, enabling standardized and pixel-level classification of intra-abdominal metastatic (IAM) lesions.
