Description
Xylella fastidiosa subsp. fastidiosa Sequence Type 1 (Xff-ST1) in table grape vineyards in Apulia, Southern Italy, represents a new threat to European viticulture. This project will investigate the ecology, seasonal dynamics, and host preferences of potential insect vectors in table grape systems, and assess how agronomic practices, climate, and landscape factors influence vector activity. The project will generate new knowledge on Xff-ST1 vector–pathogen–host interactions in table grape agroecosystems, identify key epidemiological risk factors, and provide data to support risk assessment and disease management strategies. Results will be disseminated to stakeholders and the scientific community to strengthen preparedness and protect European table grape production.
