Biotremology of pests of cultural heritage
Scientific-Disciplinary Group
07/AGRI-05 - Plant Pathology And Entomology
Description
The research activity will focus on studying the role of vibrations in the behavioral ecology of two key culturalheritage pests, Anobium punctatum and Tineola bisselliella. Specifically, the project involves decodingintraspecific communication using advanced instrumentation to record and analyze vibrational signals emittedduring courtship and rivalry contexts. Furthermore, the candidate will investigate the mechanisms of reproductivesite selection based on tactile, vibrational, and chemical stimuli and their interaction. Behavioral manipulationexperiments are planned to test the potential of sustainable and innovative control techniques.
