Development of computational phylogenetic methods for the analysis of the evolutionary history of human microbiome species
Scientific-Disciplinary Group
05/BIOS-08 - Molecular Biology
Description
The research program is part of the MicroPENCD project (FIS-2023-03427; CUP: E53C25000400001). Theresearcher will be required to develop and apply advanced computational phylogenetic methods and genomereconstruction approaches to study the evolution of human microbiome species from metagenomic data. Thesemethods must be capable of accurately analysing both already-described species and species not yet isolatedor cultured. Such methods will be applied to metagenomic data (both short- and long-read) from various casestudies to track the evolution of microbial species across individuals and how this may be associated with humandiseases.
