Description
This research programme, conducted within the European PARC project (Partnership for the Assessment of Risks from Chemicals), aims to evaluate the impact of occupational chemical exposures on biological ageing. The study adopts a comparative design including exposed workers from healthcare and waste management sectors and a control group, integrating human biomonitoring and environmental data. The analysis will focus on innovative early-effect biomarkers, particularly global DNA methylation and telomere length as key indicators of cellular ageing. These measures will be combined with markers of genotoxicity, oxidative stress, inflammation, and metabolomic profiles to provide a comprehensive and multidimensional assessment of biological risk.
