Identifying druggable targets for differentiation therapy in glioblastoma
Scientific-Disciplinary Group
05/BIOS-11 - Pharmacology
Description
The project aims at identifying new actionable molecular targets for glioblastoma (GBM), the most common central nervous system malignancy in adults, in a differentiation therapy perspective. The advances in single-cell technologies in the last years have shed light on GBM complexity, highlighting a developmental-like differentiation structure in GBM, with glioblastoma stem-like cells (GSCs) at the apex of the differentiation structure, able to progress into the cellular subtypes comprising the tumour (i.e. progenitors committed to the astrocytic, oligodendrocytic, and neuronal lineages) but unable to terminally differentiate.
