ASFO Collective management of abandoned land to enhance the resilience of agro-silvo-pastoral territories
Scientific-Disciplinary Group
07/AGRI-02 - Agronomy And Field, Vegetable, Ornamental Cropping Systems
Description
ASFO project addresses the issue of abandoned or fragmented rural land in the Italian-French cross-border area, which increases environmental vulnerability and weakens the active management of local territories. The project promotes collective land management to support the acquisition, consolidation and restoration of unmanaged land. Its goal is to strengthen the resilience of rural areas through agri-sylvo-pastoral actions, landscape protection, biodiversity conservation, hydrogeological risk prevention, and the enhancement of tourism and local production. ASFO also aims to overcome regulatory and organizational barriers shared by the both countries by fostering stable cooperation, exchange of good practices, the creation of a permanent network of public and private stakeholders, and greater awareness of the ecosystem value of these territories.
