Characterization of monolithic pixel sensors and development of reconstruction software for the muon and vertex trackers of the ALICE and NA60+/DiCE experiments
Scientific-Disciplinary Group
02/PHYS-01 - Experimental Physics Of Fundamental Interactions And Applications
Description
The research activity will be carried out within high-energy nuclear physics experiments, in particular ALICE at the LHC and NA60+/DiCE at the CERN SPS. It will include software development for NA60+/DiCE for the reconstruction of charged-particle tracks in silicon and gas detectors, and its optimization in terms of efficiency and resolution. The software will also be applied to new performance studies of key observables, including dilepton production, heavy quarks, and baryon fluctuations aimed at identifying the QCD critical point. In parallel, large-area monolithic pixel sensors produced by stitching for ALICE and NA60+/DiCE will be tested through automated probe-station quality control, detector-plane prototyping, and subsequent beam tests.
