Optimization of the event reconstruction for the SWGO experiment and Instrument Response Functions computation
Scientific-Disciplinary Group
02/PHYS-01 - Experimental Physics Of Fundamental Interactions And Applications
Description
SWGO will be a wide field of view observatory searching for high energy photon sources (200 GeV<E<10 PeV) operating in the Southern Hemisphere. The array will be made of Water Cherenkov detectors, measuring extensive air showers originated by the cosmic-ray interaction with atmospheric nuclei. This kind of experiment must separate the photon generated events from the huge hadronic background.During 2026 the SWGO collaboration foresee to completely define the array layout. In 2027 the algorithm used to select photon generated events and to reconstruct the photon arrival direction and energy must be improved. The holder of this fellowship must, in particular, work on the fine-tuning of the algorithms used to the events of energy greater than 50 TeV.
