Development of detectors for innovative external beam radiotherapy
Scientific-Disciplinary Group
02/PHYS-06 - Physics For Life Sciences, Environment, And Cultural Heritage, Physics Education And History Of Physics
Description
Within the field of Medical Physics, the proposed research activity focuses on the development and characterization of a detection system (sensor + readout electronics) for the monitoring of innovative electron, proton, and ion beams (high dose rate and/or spatially fractionated) for cancer therapy applications. During the research period, the candidate will be responsible for simulating the beams and their interaction with radiation detectors. In addition, the candidate will support the characterization of solid-state sensors both in the laboratory and under irradiation, as well as the associated readout electronics, design and build prototypes, and develop data analysis systems for beam test measurements. Finally, the candidate will also contribute to experimental activities at the LINAC of the Department of Physics, with particular attention to dosimetric measurements.
