Service and Network Integration for Digital Shadow of Continuous Data
Scientific-Disciplinary Group
09/IINF-05 - Information Processing Systems
Description
Continuous data streams are frequently used to maintain virtual representations of physical systems, leading to the concept of digital shadow. A digital shadow is a virtual representation of a physical entity that is automatically updated through a one-way data flow from the physical system to the digital one. Unlike a digital twin, it does not imply a bidirectional interaction with the physical asset, but rather reflects its state for monitoring, analysis, and prediction purposes. Granting continuity of incoming data streams to the Digital Shadow is still a challenging task that requires to integrate different data stores, and increasingly also with Federated Nodes/Domains, such as in a Federated Learning environment. The candidate will focus on all these aspects to develop a support infrastructure able to grant both data continuity and (soft) realtime constraints, by possibly minimizing resource usage at the same time.
