Innovative approach for personalized therapy of dilated cardiomyopathies using 3D models of engineered human cardiac tissues
Scientific-Disciplinary Group

Description
This research aims to develop an innovative therapeutic process for Dilated Cardiomyopathy (DCM) based on genetic diagnosis and personalized therapy, through the implementation — within the therapeutic protocol — of a step involving the use of an in vitro model derived from patient-specific induced pluripotent stem cells (iPSCs), on which therapeutic screening will be performed in order to achieve a personalized therapy with a high efficacy rate. Truncating variants in the gene encoding Titin represent the most frequent genetic cause of the disease. The overall objective of this project is to define the mechanistic basis of DCM associated with Titin truncating variants (TTNtv) and to identify actionable therapeutic targets.
