Axions and Dark Sectors: from cosmology to stars as a laboratory
Scientific-Disciplinary Group
02/PHYS-02 - Theoretical Physics Of Fundamental Interactions, Models, Mathematical Methods And Applications
Description
An exciting possibility in the near future of particle physics is the potential discovery of “feebly interacting particles” (FIPs). Potential searches for axions and other FIPs include both laboratory and astrophysical signals. The IR will be expected to perform original research on FIP production in the Early Universe the possibility of probing the parameter space through astrophysical observations. The IR will result in the realization of simulations to compute the abundance of FIPs produced in the Early Universe, and the identification of observables to probe with astrophysics their existence. The astrophysical aspects of the proposal will require the acquisition of expertise in:- stellar simulations;- simulations of topological defects in the Early Universe;- knowledge of astrophysical data and the latest results in stellar structure;- analytical calculation of particle production in a plasma and subsequent generation of several observables
