Description

The research is conducted within the framework of the HORIZON Neo-Cycle project, which aims to develop innovative technologies for the recovery of critical rawmaterials from waste electrical and electronic equipment (WEEE), to be used in various sectors. The activity includes an analysis of the regulatory framework related to WEEE management at both the Italian and European levels. Subsequently, the quantification of the waste generated will be carried out, starting from the state of the art up to future projections. Different collection and management scenarios for the WEEE under consideration will be analysed using tools such as Material Flow Analysis. Indicators may be developed to characterize the scenarios considered, to describe their efficiency and material recovery capacity. Finally, recommendations will be formulated for policy makers with the aim of fostering the development of WEEE management and treatment systems.
