Description

The goal of the project is to develop a new active mapping system for multiple, dynamic, and articulated objects, capable of autonomously guiding a mobile robot’s perception toward views that maximize the quality and efficiency of 3D reconstruction. Specifically, the project aims to: i) actively and efficiently reconstruct multiple dynamic targets even in unknown scenarios; ii) address the case of articulated objects, whose parts move according to complex kinematic constraints; iii) explicitly model the uncertainty associated with segmentation, tracking, and motion prediction; iv) develop planning strategies capable of deciding not only the next best view, but also which object to observe and when to change targets; v) validate the system on real data acquired in the laboratory
