Description
Extreme climate events and environmental pollution constitute stressors to which aquatic ecosystems are particularly vulnerable. These stressors can cause mass mortality, but also sub-lethal effects that compromise the fitness of organisms, with repercussions on their wellbeing and on the ecosystem's balance. In line with the objectives of RE-NATURE/RE-MARINE, the project proposes the use of innovative behavioural, phenotypic and molecular endpoints as potential early biomarkers of the presence of environmental stress and contamination.
