COLCAR: stable and functionalizable colloidal suspensions and sub-micrometric or nanometric dispersed systems of pyrolytic carbonaceous materials
Scientific-Disciplinary Group
03/CHEM-02 - Physical Chemistry
Description
Colloidal Carbons (COLCAR) aims to develop, synthesise and characterise stable, functionalised colloidal suspensions and sub-micrometric or nanometric dispersed systems of pyrolytic carbonaceous materials. The resulting tunable physicochemical properties can be adapted to different technological contexts. COLCAR is connected to the 'Decarbonized LiMe Production through Enhanced Joint Dielectric Heating and Waste Carbonaceous Material Addition' (MOJITO, GA 101221957) project, which is developing advanced calcination and carbonisation technologies in the presence of carbonate materials and carbonaceous waste. MOJITO output can generate precursors for colloidal carbons and sub-micrometric or nanometric dispersions in environmental, industrial and technological applications. Tribologically prepared carbons (e.g. by ball milling) may also be investigated for their dielectric properties and potential use in advanced materials for dielectric heating.
