02/PHYS-06 - Physics For Life Sciences, Environment, And Cultural Heritage, Physics Education And History Of Physics

Description

The position is part of the “FIS2-MANTIS” project. The project aims to develop a new generation of advanced optical platforms for the selective recognition of biomolecules and pharmacological compounds, with particular focus on the discrimination of enantiomeric species and the design of highly sensitive functionalized surfaces. In this context, the research activity will focus on the fabrication and characterization of nanostructured metasurfaces, with the goal of achieving advanced control over the properties of light.

The selection process includes an assessment of qualifications worth up to 60 points, and an interview worth up to 40 points. The interview will aim to evaluate the relevance, originality, and methodological consistency between the research directions emerging from each candidate’s academic and professional background, qualifications, and scientific publications, and theses (Master’s thesis and any doctoral thesis) and the objectives of the research project described in the call. Proficiency in English will also be assessed. Master’s degree obtained no more than six years ago. Main requirements: experience in the design, fabrication, and characterization of metasurfaces; expertise in the integration of metasurfaces with two-dimensional (2D) materials; proven hands-on experience with cleanroom nanofabrication techniques (e.g., electron-beam lithography – EBL, ICP-RIE etching, ALD deposition); experience in the use of morphological and structural characterization techniques (e.g., SEM, AFM); proficiency in the English language.
