Description
(1) The appointed candidate will work on the Mücerrebname (‘Book of Tested Remedies’) by Serefeddin Sabuncuoglu, by basing her/his own analysis on a direct study of the manuscript tradition, only partially studied until now. (S)he is expected to produce a monographic study, in which (s)he will summarize the main results of the investigation (s)he will conduct on this text. (2) The appointed candidate will actively collaborate with the rest of the UseFool team and contribute to the comparative approach of the project. The Ottoman text at the core of her/his research will be compared with the medical writings produced in the Arabo-Islamic cultural milieux at large. Technical sections of the investigated work may also constitute the basis for experimental replications in modern laboratories. (3) The appointed candidate will actively participate to the activities of the UseFool team (e.g. organisation of workshops, conferences and panels; dissemination of the scientific results).
