A Multimodal Clinical Approach Based on Artificial Intelligence and Biomarkers in the Treatment of Periodontal and Peri-Implant Disease
Scientific-Disciplinary Group
06/MEDS-16 - Oral Diseases And Dentistry
Description
This project aims to develop an integrated model for the management of periodontitis and peri-implant diseases through the combined analysis of salivary, gingival crevicular fluid, and microbiological biomarkers, alongside clinical data and systemic risk factors (diabetes, smoking, metabolic syndrome). The clinical protocol includes in vivo studies evaluating chlorhexidine-based formulations with Anti Discoloration System (ADS) and sodium DNA during active therapy, peri-implant mucositis/early peri-implantitis, and supportive care using microbiota-modulating approaches (postbiotics/probiotics). Artificial intelligence models will be implemented to enable risk stratification, prediction of disease exacerbations, and personalized treatment strategies. This translational project will generate robust clinical, microbiological, and molecular evidence to advance precision dentistry in periodontal and peri-implant disease management
