Assessing carbon footprint under varying BFT conditions – DC7
Scientific-Disciplinary Group
05/BIOS-05 - Ecology
Description
The objectives are mainly to develop a mechanistic DEB-based LCA approach to estimate the carbon footprint under varying conditions, and to link impact-related costs at the ecosystem level. In addition, the project aims to enhance water reuse and biofloc recycling in order to reduce the carbon footprint of Biofloc Technology (BFT) systems. To determine the carbon footprint associated with biofloc systems, a Dynamic Energy Budget (DEB) analysis will be carried out. The DEB framework allows the simulation of energy and matter allocation to target species and their surrounding habitat. Therefore, carbon-oriented DEB models for the main farmed species will be parameterised and calibrated.
