The notion of amor-passio in the Rerum vulgariumfragmenta is a foundational core of the European loveimaginary. Petrarch’s reception has generatedmultiple imaginaries of translation across spiritual, political, erotic, and narrative axes. This projectextends the framework to the contemporary period(20th–21st centuries), examining persistence andtransformation across media and cultural objects. Indialogue with sociology of communication andCultural Studies, amor-passio is conceived as adiscursive and semiotic construct. The hypothesis isthat contemporary love language reworks Petrarchanmatrices. Starting from a Francophone focus, thestudy may open comparatively to Italian and Englishcontexts.
