DISG - IDR 02-2026 - 3D origami-inspired programmable metamaterial for wave propagation control
Scientific-Disciplinary Group
08/CEAR-06 - Mechanics Of Solids And Structures
Description
The research activity will be the follow:1. Development of linear and nonlinear dynamic models of origami-based unit cells incorporating multiple resonators, 2. Implementation of computational models and numerical simulations aimed at analyzing wave propagation, identifying attenuation bandgaps, and investigating nonlinear dynamic effects.3. Optimization of the geometric and mechanical configurations of the metamaterial to maximize bandgap width by exploiting both band proximity effects associated with closely spaced resonators and nonlinear resonance-induced band broadening.4. Design and fabrication of prototypes using advanced additive manufacturing (3D printing) technologies. 5. Experimental characterization through three-dimensional laser vibrometry, including detailed measurement of vibration fields and validation through comparison of theoretical, numerical, and experimental results.6.Data analysis, preparation of scientific publications, and dissemination of research
