At the roots of motor intentions

Description
The research program aims to investigate goal-directed movement in Pisum sativum plants by integrating kinematics, morphological-structural analyses of root and foliar systems, and the monitoring of Volatile Organic Compounds (VOCs). Specifically, the project explores how plants perceive environmental cues and modulate their motor kinematics (velocity, acceleration, movement smoothness, and tendril opening dynamics) based on physical support features, task constraints, and ecological contexts (e.g., cooperation or competition). These movements will be tracked and analyzed across space and time using a dedicated, in-house developed software framework
