Biodesign for Interaction: An Exploratory Approach (Biodesign for Interaction, B4I) - 2026_IDR_DESIGN_8

The research programme Biodesign for Interaction (B4I) explores the potential of biological systems and biomaterials as infrastructures for interaction, proposing alternatives to dominant digital and electronic paradigms. Through a Research through Design methodology, the project investigates how biological processes, living materials, and biomaterials can generate new forms of interaction, producing design prototypes, conceptual models, and methodological contributions. The research activities include literature analysis, the development of design scenarios, and laboratory experimentation with mycelium, bacterial cellulose, and flavobacteria, contributing to the advancement of knowledge in the fields of biodesign, interaction design, and sustainability transitions.
