Development and Application of Diagnostic Protocols for the Conservation and Study of Cultural Heritage
The research program is aimed at the development and application of innovative diagnostic protocols for the chemical-geological characterization of materials constituting archaeological and cultural heritage. The activity involves the integrated use of spectroscopic techniques for compositional identification and the study of degradation processes, with particular focus on stone, ceramic, and pigment materials. In this context, the investigation of surface properties may provide insights into the state of conservation, protective treatments, and alteration phenomena. The acquired data will be processed using advanced chemometric approaches in order to enhance interpretative resolution and support the classification of materials and their alterations. The project also includes the definition of protocols for data acquisition, processing, and management, promoting the reproducibility and interoperability of results.
