Globular Clusters in the Time of James Webb Space Telescope

The IR research program is dedicated to investigating the origin of multiple stellar populations in globular clusters, one of the most important open questions in stellar astrophysics and in the formation of the first structures in the Universe. Through the analysis of new JWST observations and archival data, the project will systematically explore, for the first time, the chemical variations associated with multiple populations in the low-mass stellar regime, including M dwarfs. The IR will contribute to the development of advanced techniques for the photometric and dynamical analysis of the dataset, combining chemical and kinematic information to test the main formation scenarios of globular clusters. The results will provide new constraints on the early evolution of stellar clusters and on the processes governing star formation in the early Universe.

http://dfa.unipd.it/servizi/amministrazione-trasparente/bandi-di-concorso/bandi-didattica-ricerca-e-altre-tipologie/incarichi-di-ricerca/selezioni-aperte-o-in-svolgimento/ - Demonstrated experience in the reduction and analysis of imaging data from space- and/or ground-based astronomical facilities.- Experience with stellar photometry and astrometry, preferably in crowded stellar fields.- Good knowledge of stellar populations, globular clusters, and stellar evolution.- Experience in the analysis and interpretation of astronomical datasets using scientific programming languages (e.g., Python, IDL, or equivalent).- Ability to work effectively within an international collaborative research environment.- Good scientific writing skills, demonstrated by publications in peer-reviewed international journals.- Good command of written and spoken English.
