IdR64/26 - Engineering of cyanobacteria and microalgae for the production of compounds of industrial interest
The program will include the isolation and characterization of microalgal and cyanobacterial strains, the optimization of cultivation conditions in laboratory-scale systems and photobioreactors, metabolic profiling, and the valorization of the resulting biomass. Particular attention will be devoted to the identification and production of bioactive metabolites, biostimulants, and compounds with insecticidal or repellent properties, suitable for use in innovative and sustainable crop protection strategies. The activities will be carried out in line with the objectives of the PROTECTO project, contributing to the development of biological solutions aimed at preventing and reducing damage caused by harmful organisms, while promoting ecosystem protection and environmental sustainability.
