Title of the project:"Development and Trajectories of Graphic Codes on Easter Island (Rapa Nui) and in Oceania”. The research project “Development and Trajectories of Graphic Codes on Easter Island – Rapa Nui and in the Pacific” is part of the FIS2 SAPIENCE project on the formation of prehistoric graphic codes. It analyses how symbols were produced, selected, and transmitted by pre-writing communities, using cognitive, archaeological, semiotic, and anthropological perspectives. The position focuses on Rapa Nui’s graphic and artistic production, especially petroglyphs and symbols documented from the earliest settlement around AD 1200, including carvings on the moai and other contexts predating the arrival of Europeans in 1722...Omissis..
