PROPLA - PRObiotics to counteract nanoPLAstic-driven neurodegeneration via the gut-brain axis
Scientific-Disciplinary Group
05/BIOS-11 - Pharmacology
Description
The PROPLA project investigates the effects of nanoplastics along the gut-brain axis, with particular attention to the mechanisms of intestinal barrier damage and to microbiota alterations capable of influencing the central nervous system. The planned activities include the use of murine models of nanoplastic exposure, the collection and analysis of biological samples (intestine and feces), and the analysis of the microbiota through NGS techniques. Candidates must possess solid skills in 16S rRNA sequencing, qPCR, and in the bioinformatic analysis of metagenomic data. Experience with laboratory animals is appreciated.
