Description
The research activity will focus on the hydrogeological, structural-geological, and engineering-geological study of complex aquifer systems in Western Sicily hosted in carbonate rocks. It will involve updating the knowledge framework (identification and delimitation) of groundwater bodies, characterizing hydrostructures, and defining the fracture network to determine flow patterns and quantify resources. Data for hydrogeological characterization will be acquired through field surveys using traditional and innovative methods (remote sensing techniques such as LiDAR and photogrammetry). The data will be processed and analyzed using advanced GIS applications for complex spatial analysis, utilizing open-source solutions and dedicated software for the automatic extraction of the main features of the hydrostructures.
