Description
Title of the project:“Production and tests of the Minicrate for the Phase2 upgrade of the CMS Drift Tubes, and optimization of the muon detection at HL-LHC”.The current trigger and readout electronics infrastructure for the DT chambers, the minicrate, will be replaced during the High Luminosity LHC (HL-LHC) phase to sustain the higher trigger rate and increased radiation levels. The new minicrates for the CMS DT system will include new boards, the On Board electronics for DT (OBDT), acting as time-to-digital converters (TDC). Assembly of the OBDT boards into the minicrates and the related tests are ongoing in Bologna; shipment to CERN will follow for installation in CMS at the beginning of LHC Long Shutdown 3, with installation and commissioning activities planned from July 2026.
