Pica Code: IPD-2026-021 - Nonlinear continuum mechanics applied to polymer nanocomposites: Multiscale formulation and homogenization
Scientific-Disciplinary Group
08/CEAR-06 - Mechanics Of Solids And Structures
Description
The research activity is focused on the development of a multiscale framework for the modeling of polymer nanocomposites under nonlinear elasticity at large deformations. The microstructure will be explicitly described at the microscopic scale through nonlinear micromechanics approaches. The micro–macro transition will be addressed by means of nonlinear homogenization techniques, either analytical and/or computational, with the aim of deriving effective macroscopic constitutive models capable of incorporating the effects of morphology and nanoparticle distribution. The framework will be extended to include damage and softening phenomena induced by matrix–nanoparticle interactions, through finite elasticity formulations with internal variables and pseudo-elastic models for the description of the Mullins effect
