In-situ and remote-sensed based phenotypic characterization of wild fruit species (Crop wild relatives CWR) spontaneously growing in forest environments
Scientific-Disciplinary Group
07/AGRI-03 - Arboriculture And Forest Systems
Description
The research program aims to perform in-situ phenotypic characterization, at both stand and tree scales, of wild fruit species (Crop Wild Relatives, CWR) spontaneously growing in forest environments. Phenotypic characterization at the stand scale is based on the analysis of seasonal patterns at the European scale of the remotely sensed spectral index (PPI) at multi temporal scale in wild fruit stands. In-situ phenotyping of CWR at the tree scale is based on the survey and analysis of plant morphometric characteristics (leaves, flowers, fruits, dendrometric variables) and the identification of plant structural diversity indices through the use of terrestrial laser scanning. The research program also includes teaching collaboration on courses related to research activities, both in terms of classroom teaching and exercises, as well as the enhancement of the research program through the publication of results and dissemination through participation in workshops.
