Description

The research programme involves a multidisciplinary study that integrates environmental monitoring with health surveillance, focusing on areas at greatest risk, such as Val d'Agri, Valle del Sauro and the Sites of National Interest (SIN) of Tito and Val Basento. In particular, this project proposal focuses on the analysis of sensory alterations as indicators of environmental toxicity. The objective is divided into two parts: on the one hand, the assessment of the effects of exposure to pollutants derived from oil extraction, in particular heavy metals, on the sensory functions of thepopulation and, on the other hand, the assessment of the potential effect of pollutants (at levels below the permitted limits) on the sensory profile of typical and non-typical agri-food products from Basilicata.
