Description
The Postdoctoral researcher will lead time-resolved X-ray solution scattering and spectroscopy studies of solvated photoactive molecules with significant relevance to solar energy conversion. The central goal is to directly observe coupled electronic, atomic-scale structural, and solvation dynamics triggered by photoexcitation on ultrafast timescales, typically hundreds of femtoseconds to picoseconds. The position involves both quantitative analysis of already acquired ultrafast X-ray solution scattering data sets and the design and execution of new experiments at X-ray Free-electron Laser facilities (e.g., LCLS, SwissFEL, European XFEL) in close collaboration with international experimental groups. Data reduction and analysis will be carried out using in-house code, with the Postdoc expected to work closely with group members developing theory and performing simulations of photoinduced molecular dynamics processes...
