A simplified procedure for assessing the seismic resilience of hospitals based on functionality curves - 2026_IPD_DABC_5
Scientific-Disciplinary Group
08/CEAR-07 - Structural Analysis And Design
Description
The project aims to develop a simplified procedure for assessing the seismic resilience of hospital facilities, based on a functionality curve that integrates structural, non-structural, and organizational aspects. The methodology is structured in three main phases: (i) typological classification of hospital buildings through field survey forms, and assignment of fragility curves from the literature representative of the seismic behavior of different structural systems and non-structural components; (ii) definition of the Operational Limit State, introducing damage thresholds for non-structural components and minimum service requirements, through the analysis of case studies, literature review, and consultation with experts; (iii) development of the global functionality curve by assigning weighting factors to the fragility curves of the different components, reflecting the impact that their damage has on the hospital’s ability to maintain post-earthquake operability
