Molecular and bioinformatic approaches for microbial genetic characterization and isolation of sequences and/or genes associated with white grape cultivars for the selection of the best genotypes in terms of acidity and aromatic profile
Scientific-Disciplinary Group
07/AGRI-08 - Agricultural, Food And Environmental Microbiology
Description
The activities will focus on evaluating the genetic background, both microbial and plant-based, associated with Italian white wines and their varietal aroma impact. Particular attention will also be given to the genetic characterization of oenological microorganisms from the SAAF-UNIPA Department collection for the purpose of modulating the acidity and aroma of wines. The activities will include the analysis of NGS (Next Generation Sequencing) data, the use and development of pipelines for RNA-Seq, Whole Genome Sequencing, and SNP Genotyping data, the use of Unix-like and Windows operating systems, programming using Bash, Python, and R, and the construction of NGS libraries. The activities will also be carried out in close collaboration with the Institute of Biosciences and BioResources - National Research Council of Italy (CNR-IBBR) in Palermo (Coordinator: Dr. Francesco Mercati), in accordance with the approved project's implementation objectives.
