Scientific-Disciplinary Group
05/BIOS-05 - Ecology
Description
The research project aims to understand how human activities related to coastalusage (tourism, coastal development) affect the cycling of carbon derived fromPosidonia oceanica wrack in sandy coastal areas. The Posidonia meadow in front ofthe beach will be also sampled, when present. The study area covers the coastlineof Liguria and Tuscany. Activities will include (i) fieldwork for monitoring andexperimental setup - snorkeling and scuba diving (max. 15 m) for data collection,(iv) laboratory work for sample preparation, and (v) data management andanalysis. This contract is linked to the INTERREG AMMIRARE project and involves collaboration with theEU Horizon AquaPLAN project. Basic knowledge of the following skills is required: (i) knowledge on organic carbon biogeochemistry; (ii) experience of field sampling and in situ experiments in the coastal zone; (iii)knowledge of the ecology of sandy beaches; (iv) experience in statistical analysison R.
