Pica code IPD-2026-030 Computational modeling of polymer nanocomposites using higher-order continuum theories
Scientific-Disciplinary Group
08/CEAR-06 - Mechanics Of Solids And Structures
Description
The research is focused on the development of numerical models for the study of the nonlinear behavior of polymer nanocomposites, with particular emphasis on strain localization, damage, and fracture phenomena emerging across multiple cales. The approach integrates multiscale techniques to link micromechanics and microstructure to the macroscopic response, including scale effects associated with nanoscale reinforcements.Solid experience in computational mechanics and in the modeling of nonlinear problems is therefore required. Beyond numerical implementation, a solid understanding of the theoretical foundations of nonlocal theories and plasticity is necessary.
