Description
Chemo-enzymatic synthesis of organic molecules and oligomers from renewable biological substrates. These molecules will possess functional groups that can be utilised to confer specific advanced properties for applications in the fields of polymer chemistry, and smart and responsive materials and packaging. The products will be characterised in detail using advanced spectroscopic methods typical of organic chemistry: one- and two-dimensional NMR, MS-ESI, UV-Vis, FT-IR and fluorescence. The chemical-physical and morphological properties will also be characterised using DSC, TGA, TEM and SEM microscopy. Syntheses will be carried out using conventional organic chemistry techniques and enzymes that will be immobilised on solid supports.
