Pica Code IPD-2026-033 - Isotope analyses of animal, plant and human remains as proxy for mobility, aleoclimate and diet
Scientific-Disciplinary Group
04/GEOS-01 - Mineralogy, Petrology, Geochemistry, Volcanology, Georesources And Applications
Description
The research activity will focus on the application of isotope analyses to the study of faunal, vegetal and human remains from archaeological and palaeoenvironmental contexts. In particular, the investigation will aim to reconstruct aspects related to individual mobility, palaeoclimatic conditions, and dietary strategies, integrating isotopic information with archaeological, bioanthropological, archaeozoological, and geochemical data. The use of less conventional isotopic systems than those commonly employed will broaden the interpretative potential of the analyses, offering new tools to understand the interactions between human populations, animals, the environment, and the landscape in the past. The activities will include the selection and preparation of samples, the processing and interpretation of isotopic data, as well as comparison with environmental and archaeological reference datasets.
